PORN IS POISON. FINAL 4 WAYS THAT PORN IS SLOWLY DESTROYING YOU. PART III.

If you have not seen the first two parts of this article, please find Part I HERE and Part II HERE.

Imagine that you spent time and money, every day, for years and years, puffing on cigarettes. Day by day, nothing really changed in your health, but after a few hundred thousand cigarettes in 30 years, here you are with an irregular heartbeat, red skin, lungs that can never pull in a full breath, and several tumors growing, on the inside, where you can’t see it. And then the big company that sold you all those cigarettes, they hold a press release and said that they knew their product was poison. They knew you would die from smoking cigarettes. You might be angry about that, but they don’t care.

Even beyond not caring that you will die from smoking, they knew their product was addictive. They even invested research and development dollars to find and then use the chemicals that would make their product so addictive that you would struggle to stop. Maybe you could sue them as part of a class action lawsuit with many others, maybe even win, and possibly get some of your money back. The company will write a check, pay their fine, but you are still going to die. That company is still in business, still making money, just some new packaging with warning labels, and a reminder to citizens that it is ultimately your decision to smoke or not to smoke.

The day of Big Porn’s press release may never come. You may never actually hear from the producers and the distributors of porn that yes, of course they knew that their product damages your mind, heart, and soul, on the inside, where you can’t see it. Of course they knew that porn erases the depth and meaning and importance of each human being. Of course they made it as addictive as they possibly could, on purpose, to keep your face pointed at the screen for hours and days and months and years because that sweet website traffic was more important than you.

Do you need someone to tell you that porn is destroying you slowly? Can you see it now, for yourself? The porn mongers will write a check, pay their fine, re-brand and re-package, all the way to the bank, whether you know you’re dying or not. Whether they are fined, regulated, or made to use warning labels, or if they never have to answer for any of it.

It is ultimately your decision to porn or not to porn. But remember that porn is slowly destroying you.

1. Remember that Porn is Body Shaming. The muscles, the tans, the tattoos, the plastic surgery. The wigs, the make-up, and the lighting. None of the people or the scenes or the situations are real. Porn has helped us to build unrealistic expectations of our physical bodies. Porn assists in sending the message that we should feel inadequate, inferior, and uncomfortable in our own skin unless we carry very specific physical traits. Porn also implies that when you are “beautiful”, you deserve sexual pleasure, and if you are not beautiful, then you don’t.

2. Remember that porn is Escalating. Compare the amount of megabits in a 20 minute porn video to the amount in a 3-page centerfold from 30 years ago. We are blitzing our brains with neurochemical stimulation and there is no end in sight. We are being desensitized to graphic sexuality, and what was exciting yesterday is boring today, and we are pushing for new and different types of stimulation that we may have once considered deviant. If we create immersive virtual reality porn to manufacture sexual experiences that combine sight, sound, and touch, to materialize any fantasy we can imagine, we will be hurt by it as a human race. The disconnection is already deep and sprawling, and this would be like dumping kegs of gasoline into a house fire that was already burning out of control.

3. Remember that porn is Our Fault. There is no point in blaming the media for using sex to get our attention or sell us products. We demanded it, and they gave it to us. Do you still demand it? If porn was on the open market or the black market, if it was legal or illegal, if it was moral or amoral, the choice will always be yours. You can decide for yourself which way to turn your head. You can decide for yourself if you will stand up to honor and respect all people as people.

4. Remember that Porn is Oppressing Us. In the same way that Big Tobacco gets rich from poisoning your lungs and killing your body, Big Porn gets rich from poisoning your brain and killing your relationships. You may not spend a dime on porn and be able to get anything you want for free. But how many hours have you sunk into viewing porn. Isn’t time worth more than money? Isn’t that why we want money, in order to have more time? Porn asks us to spend our time, to give our lives over, in exchange for the death of our hearts, minds, and spirits.

The final question is simple, yet powerful, and the more you ask it, the more power it has.

To all the porn users of the world,

How do you want to SPEND your TIME?
